Get verified: identity and company
Free verification with a passport or driving licence and a selfie: the steps, the two badges, and when it is required — e.g. for auction bids.
4 min readUpdated
Verification is free for everyone. The badge shows that your identity has been confirmed with a passport or driving licence and a selfie through Stripe Identity. When you trade a business worth several hundred thousand kroner with someone you do not know, it is one of the first things the other party looks for — and in some places on Sitavo it is required.
The two badges
| Badge | For whom | What has been checked |
|---|---|---|
| Verified identity | All accounts | The email is confirmed, and the identity is confirmed with a passport or driving licence and a selfie. |
| Verified company | Company accounts with a CVR number | The identity is confirmed, and the CVR number and company name match the CVR register. |
The badge appears on your profile and your listings. If a company account’s identity is not confirmed but the company name matches the CVR register, the automatic «CVR verified» badge is shown — that is a data check, not a confirmation of who is behind the account.
When is verification required?
| Situation | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Listings shown only to verified buyers | The buyer must be verified to see figures and details and to make offers |
| Bids of DKK 500,000 or more in an auction | The bidder must have a verified identity |
| Discreet sale and «Test the market» | The seller must be verified |
| Ordinary listings, messages and offers | No requirement — but it builds trust |

How to get verified — three steps
- Confirm your email (required). You do this when you create the account.
- Confirm your identity with a passport or driving licence (required). Go to Verification, give your consent and tap Verify with passport or driving licence. In Stripe’s secure window you photograph the document and take a selfie — it takes about 2 minutes, and you are usually confirmed straight away.
- Link your CVR number (optional, company accounts). If the CVR number and company name match the CVR register, the badge becomes «Verified company».
Your information
- Only the badge is public.
- The images of your document and your selfie stay with Stripe. Sitavo only receives the result: confirmed or not, document type, issuing country, whether the name matches, and your year of birth — never images or document numbers.
- Sitavo asks Stripe to delete images and document data once the check is decided, and at the latest when you delete your account.
- The face match requires your explicit consent, which you give before Stripe’s window opens. Read more in the privacy policy.
If it does not work
- The name does not match: if the document shows a different name from the account (for example a middle name), Sitavo reviews it manually within 1–2 working days.
- The image was rejected: try again in good light, without glare, with the whole document in the picture.
- You cannot use a passport or driving licence: Stripe also accepts national ID cards from many countries. Otherwise create a case under Help and cases — choose «My account» → «Verification of identity or company».
Verification as a buyer and as a seller
- As a buyer you get access to listings shown only to verified buyers, and you can bid high in an auction. Sellers more often approve an NDA request from a buyer they can see is verified.
- As a seller the badge shows buyers that there is a real person behind the listing. This matters especially in a discreet sale, where name and business are hidden at first.
- As a company «Verified company» shows that the account belongs to a company with a valid CVR number — useful when a holding company buys or an ApS sells.
Sellers: get verified before you publish the listing, so the badge is there from day one when the first buyers look. Buyers: verification makes it easier to earn the seller’s trust when you ask for accounts and data room access.
Verification is about who you are — not about the figures in the listing. Buyers must still investigate the business themselves, and sellers can have their figures reviewed with «Verified figures», which is part of the Premium listing package. Use the pre-purchase checklist.
