OverviewA website is an income stream, so the price has to match what it earns.Introduction
A website is an income stream, so the price has to match what it earns. Start with the revenue sources: does the money come from ads, affiliate links, selling leads to local businesses, paid memberships, directory listings or the seller’s own services? Income that rests on the seller’s personal network may not transfer to you.
Then study the traffic. What share comes from organic search, direct visits, social media and paid ads? Which pages bring in the visitors, and has traffic been stable, rising or falling over the last 12–24 months? A site where a handful of pages carry most of the traffic is more exposed to changes in Google’s results.
Key figures and valuationIncome-generating websites are usually priced on monthly profit.Finance
Income-generating websites are usually priced on monthly profit. Sitavo’s indicative range is 24–36 times monthly profit, which equals 2–3 times annual profit. Stable organic traffic, several revenue sources and few weekly hours push the price up; declining traffic, one dominant income source and lots of manual work pull it down. These are indicative market ranges, not a guarantee — use Sitavo’s price estimate.
- Monthly profit for the last 12–24 months, not just the best months.
- Visits and page views broken down by traffic source.
- Revenue per source, showing how much depends on a single agreement.
- Running costs: hosting, plugins, writers and tools.
- Hours per week spent on content, customers and technical upkeep.

- Access to (or screenshots of) Google Analytics and Google Search Console, so you can see traffic and trends yourself.
- Payouts from ad networks, affiliate partners or customers that reconcile with the accounts.
- Agreements with customers buying leads or ad space: term, and whether they can be assigned.
- Rights to text, images and design — including work by freelancers and stock libraries.
- Backlinks: any paid links or other tactics that could cause trouble with Google?
- Technical condition: platform, updates, backups and page speed.
Sellers can share figures and logins in a data room behind an NDA. Work through the pre-purchase checklist as well.

The handover normally covers the domain, the hosting or a full copy of the site, all content, the email list, social media and access to analytics. The domain is transferred through the registrar, while ad network and affiliate accounts are usually personal: expect to open your own accounts and have the site approved while the seller closes theirs. Migrate without changing URLs and structure, so rankings are not lost. Many Danish sites earn from Danish-language partners and advertisers, so check that those relationships work with a foreign owner. Read more about the handover.

Most websites are bought with own funds, and Sitavo does not provide financing. Messaging sellers and making offers is free, and you agree price and terms in the deal workflow. The purchase price goes directly to the seller, never to Sitavo. If you are after pure blogs and affiliate sites, browse content sites for sale.
Questions and answers
Short answers to what buyers ask most often.
Didn’t find the answer?Contact our support team — we’re happy to help.Sitavo’s indicative range is 24–36 times monthly profit. Stable traffic and several revenue sources point to the higher end. Use the price estimate for a specific site.
Content sites are blogs, magazines and guides earning from ads and affiliate links. Websites is broader: lead generation sites, directories, tools and sites selling their own services.
Ask for access to, or screenshots from, Google Analytics and Search Console covering at least 12 months. Compare them with the income so traffic and revenue tell the same story.
Usually not, as these accounts are personal. Expect to set up your own and have the site approved. Check each partner’s terms before you buy.
The purchase price goes directly from buyer to seller, usually by bank transfer. Sitavo does not handle the payment and offers no escrow. For larger amounts, pay part after the handover.
