Password, sessions and login history

Reset or change your password, change email, see where you are logged in, log out other devices, and check the login history for unknown logins.

You manage everything about logging in under Account and login: password, email, two-step verification, Google sign-in, active sessions and login history. At the top you see a status telling you whether the account is well protected — for example whether 2FA is missing, or the password is more than a year old.

Forgot your password

  1. Choose «Forgot password?» on the login page and enter your email.
  2. We send a link that is valid for 1 hour. If it does not arrive, check your spam and promotions folders.
  3. Choose a new password. For security, all your sessions are logged out.
  4. If you have 2FA on, you still need the code from your app or a backup code when you log in again.

Change password

Enter your current password and the new one twice. The password must be at least 8 characters with at least one letter and one number — longer is better, and a password manager makes it easy to have a unique password for every site. Once changed, your other devices are logged out, and you get a confirmation by email. If you sign in with Google, you can choose a password here if you also want to log in with email.

Change email

If you change your email, we send a confirmation link to the new address (valid for 24 hours) and a warning with a link to stop the change to the old one. That way no one can move your account to another email without you noticing. We also ask for your current password or a 2FA code to make sure it is you.

Sign in with Google

You can link or remove Google as a login provider under Account and login. If you only sign in with Google, you can choose a password so you can also log in with email — a good fallback if you lose access to your Google account. If you have 2FA on, it also applies after a Google sign-in.

Sessions and «Remember me»

  • Without «Remember me» you stay logged in until you close the browser (at most 1 day).
  • With «Remember me» you stay logged in for 30 days, and the period is extended when you use Sitavo.
  • Under Active sessions you see every device with browser and location. You can log out a single device or choose Log out of all other devices.
  • Do not use «Remember me» on a shared or public computer.

Login history

The login history shows the latest 30 events on the account: logins, failed login attempts, wrong two-step codes, password and email changes, and when 2FA is turned on or off. Look through it now and then — especially if you get a security email you did not expect.

Good habits for a secure account

  • Use a password you do not use anywhere else — a password manager remembers it for you.
  • Turn on two-step verification, and keep the backup codes somewhere other than your phone.
  • Log out on computers you share with others, and remove old devices under Active sessions.
  • Always log in by typing sitavo.dk yourself — not via a link in an email you did not expect.
