Reviews after a deal

Reviews on Sitavo are always based on a completed deal. How to review a buyer or seller, and what to do about an unfair review.

Reviews are the best way to show future buyers and sellers that you are good to deal with. On Sitavo you can only review each other after a deal that has been completed in the deal process. Every review is therefore based on a real deal with an agreement, payment and handover — not on a brief contact or a message that never led anywhere.

Who can review whom — and when?

  • When the buyer has approved the handover and the deal shows as Completed, both parties can review each other.
  • The buyer reviews the seller and the seller reviews the buyer — once each per deal.
  • A cancelled deal cannot be reviewed.
  • You find the review button in the completed deal under Offers and deals.

How to write a review

  1. Open the completed deal and choose to review the other party.
  2. Choose 1–5 stars.
  3. Write 10–1,500 characters about how the deal went.
  4. Tap Send review. The other party is notified, and the review appears on their profile.

A review cannot be edited once it has been sent, so think it through. A good review is specific and helps the next person who deals with them. It is worth waiting a few days after the handover so you have seen that everything works — but write it while you still remember the details. For sellers, good reviews from previous buyers are one of the strongest reasons a new buyer dares to make an offer on your next business.

What you can write about

TopicQuestions to answer
CommunicationDid the other party reply quickly and clearly? Were agreements clear?
Figures and descriptionDid the listing, figures and data room match what you got?
PaymentWas payment made on time and as agreed?
HandoverDid access, keys and documents arrive as promised? Did the seller help with the transition?
  • Stick to facts and your own experience.
  • Do not include amounts, account numbers, passwords, phone numbers or other personal data. The price of a sold business is not public, so leave it out of the review as well.
  • You may not offer or accept payment for a review (see the terms of trade).

Use reviews before you trade

As a buyer, you can see the seller’s reviews and sold businesses on their profile before you make an offer. Also look for the verification badge — see get verified. Read both the good and the bad reviews, and notice whether they concern response times, figures or the handover. Few or no reviews is not a bad sign in itself; many people only ever sell one business. As a seller, you can likewise see whether a buyer has completed deals before.

What the profile shows

  • Average and count: the stars are shown as an average with «Based on» the number of reviews.
  • The reviews themselves with stars, text and who wrote them. Under «See all reviews» every review can be read.
  • No amounts: the price of the deal is not shown, including if the sale is later anonymised.
  • New on Sitavo: if a profile has neither deals nor reviews, it says the person is new. That is entirely normal for first-time sellers.
  • Negative reviews are not removed just because they are negative. They are only hidden if they breach the guidelines.

Disagree with a review?

If you believe a review of you is untrue, offensive or not about the deal, you can report it from the profile via the «…» menu next to the review. A person at Sitavo reviews the case, and you receive a reasoned decision. If the review breaches our guidelines, it is hidden — it is no longer shown publicly and does not count towards the average. We never edit the text itself, and we do not remove a review just because it is negative.

If you have an unresolved issue about the deal itself — such as missing access — use a dispute in the deal rather than a review. The dispute pauses the deal until it is decided. See Help and cases.
