Find businesses for sale: search, filter, save and compare

How to find a business for sale in Denmark on Sitavo: search in plain words, filter by sector, region and key figures, save listings and compare them.

6 min readUpdated

If you want to buy a business, start on the marketplace under businesses for sale. Every active listing is there — from webshops, SaaS and websites to restaurants, shops and trade businesses. You can search in your own words, filter and sort, save the listings you want to look at more closely, and compare them side by side. You do not need an account to browse, but you must be logged in to save listings, follow sellers, message them and make offers.

Search for businesses for sale in your own words

The marketplace search field understands whole sentences. Type, for example, «profitable webshop under DKK 500,000» or «restaurant in Aarhus with handover support», and Sitavo’s AI search turns the sentence into filters that you can see and adjust afterwards. The filters are also written into the address, so you can share the search or save it as a search alert. If you prefer to choose yourself, go straight to a category or use the filters next to the results.

Categories: from webshops for sale to restaurants for sale

The categories are split into Digital (websites, webshops, domains, SaaS, apps, content sites, online courses and digital products, plugins, communities and newsletters, services and other) and Businesses (such as shops, restaurants and cafés, trades and construction, services and consultancy, manufacturing, wholesale, transport, health and beauty, property, energy, hotels and accommodation, IT and technology, and automotive). Each category has subcategories, so you can go from Webshops to Fashion and lifestyle, for example. If you are looking in a particular area, you can also start from businesses for sale by region and town.

Filters that make the search precise

  • Location: the Danish regions North Jutland, Central Jutland, Funen, South Jutland, Zealand and Greater Copenhagen, or abroad — and whether the business can be relocated.
  • Listing type: for sale, partner wanted, business lease (forpagtning) or investor wanted.
  • Price, revenue, profit and traffic as ranges.
  • Platform, language and market — mostly relevant for digital businesses.
  • Business and deal: seller financing available, hide start-ups (under 2 years), only listings with images, age, number of employees, stock, and whether the seller is a private person or a company.
  • Auction / bidding round: shows only listings where the seller has set a bidding deadline or an auction with binding bids. Sort by «Ending soon» to see the ones closing first.

You can sort by newest, most popular, price, highest revenue or «Ending soon», and switch between grid and list view. If you have a search you want to keep an eye on, tap Save as search alert. You will then be notified about new matching listings. See Search alerts and My buyer brief.

Figures shown only after an NDA

Some sellers sell discreetly. The seller and the business are then hidden, and revenue and profit are shown as ranges (such as «DKK 1–5 million») until you have an approved NDA. Listings with hidden figures cannot match an exact revenue or profit filter — otherwise the filter would give the figures away. Choose «Not important» for the key figures if you want to include them. See NDA when buying a business.

For sale right now

Read the listing and ask about it

On the listing page you see the description, key figures, a table of accounts (fetched from the Danish CVR register if the seller has done so), what is included, and how the seller wants to sell: at a fixed price, by offers, in a bidding round or by auction. Under Ask about the listing you can get a short summary and ask questions that AI answers from the listing’s own information — and pass a question on to the seller with one click. The answers can be wrong, so use them as a starting point, not as evidence.

Save listings and follow sellers

Tap Save on the listing (or the heart on the listing card). You will find them under Saved listings, where you can search, sort and see the status of NDAs, offers, data rooms and deals for each listing. If you remove a listing by mistake, tap Undo straight away. You are notified if the price of a saved listing is reduced, if it is sold, removed or expires, and if it comes back on the market. The seller is told that a buyer has saved the listing, but not who you are.

On a seller’s profile you can tap Follow seller. You will then be notified when the seller publishes a new listing. You can stop following via the link in the email.

Compare businesses side by side

Tick Compare on two or three listings — from the marketplace or your saved listings — and tap the bar at the bottom. You see, among other things, price, minimum offer, revenue, profit, price relative to annual profit, profit margin, visitors, age, whether the figures are verified, and the seller’s rating and response time. The best figure in each row is highlighted when it is stated for at least two listings. Figures the seller only shows after an NDA or to verified buyers appear as «Hidden».

Badges on listings

BadgeWhat it means
Verified identity / Verified businessThe seller’s identity has been confirmed with a passport or driving licence, and for businesses the connection has been checked in CVR. It says nothing about the figures.
Figures verifiedSitavo has reviewed the seller’s documentation for the figures shown.
NewPublished within the last 14 days. Does not affect the order.
FeaturedThe seller has paid for visibility, so the listing appears high in the lists for a period.
Auction / Bidding roundThere is a bidding deadline. In an auction the bids are binding and public — see bidding rounds and auctions.
Discreet saleThe seller and the business are hidden and revealed step by step to serious buyers.
Under negotiationA deal is in progress on the listing.

When you have found a candidate

  1. Read the listing carefully and note the questions it does not answer.
  2. Contact the seller, and sign an NDA if the listing requires one.
  3. Go through the documents in the data room, and use the checklist before you buy.
  4. Get an independent view of the price with a sale price estimate (DKK 195 for basic) — buyers and sellers can both order one.
  5. Make an offer on your terms, or buy at the fixed price if the seller offers it.

Let sellers find you

Fill in My buyer brief with sector, region, budget and timeframe. You then get recommendations and, if you choose, sellers can find you and message you — including about businesses that are not on the market. See Search alerts and My buyer brief.
